Sins of the Father: Unintended Consequences

GameMaster: Stephen Acton
Game Description: Tense / Real-time — Traditional Amber
Game Notes: This is a continuation from a previous WixerCon game, but it is open to new Players as well.

Smiles everyone! You beat the bad guy… Brand is dead—killed on the edge of the Abyss while Deirdre has returned into the arms of her family, and Gerard recovers from the near-fatal ordeal.

So why don’t you feel like smiling? It’s those darn loose ends. Deirdre and Gerard aren’t healing as they should. Efforts to restore them (Deirdre’s body and Gerard’s mind) have failed and the tactics Random is willing to try have become increasingly esoteric.

Six months later can you finish what you started?

Setting: The game will start in Amber and span shadow.

Character Instructions: Players are Amberites and have 125 points. No Shadow Knight rules. I recommend pattern, but it is not a requirement. Stuff limit of +/-5. Possible parents for PCs are: Caine, Benedict, Bleys, Brand, Dierdre, Jullian, Flora, Llewella, others possible with GM approval.

I’d like to do some or most character work ups via email (as time allows, of course J ).

Player Information: Minimum: 3 Maximum: 7

"Hunter's Moon" is a League of Crowns game.

Amid gaslight, a gruesome Beast stalks the streets of Amber City. The Sponsors to the League of Crowns, whom you serve, have summoned you to join Prince Julian this very evening to reclaim the Beast before it can do further harm. Some of you may have helped Julian track down the Beast the previous night, at great cost of life to League agents and city denizens. King Random wants this matter settled once and for all before it threatens the impending Royal Ball honoring Queen Vialle's birthday.

Amber Legacy is an Amber DRPG setting focused on intrigue, espionage, and adventure. The environment is post-Patternfall with steampunk and clockwork type inventions side by-side a quasi-Victorian mentality in response to the foreign invasion by Chaos.

The League of Crowns is a secret society in the service of the Elders as deniable assets, devoted to thwarting threats to the Golden Circle Kingdoms and to the Crown of Amber. Through your actions, the realms remain safe and free from the aftermath of the Black Road War. Yet at times it is unclear who you serve, as the Elders use any and all weapons in their eternal struggle for dominance in Amber, including the League.

CHARACTER CREATION
On-site creation, or use of pregen characters (~6 Players): Captain, Veteran, Hunter, Investigator, Mystic, New-Guy (focused either on security or research)… other options are possible.

Lady Blackbird is on the run from an arranged marriage to Count Carlowe. She hired a smuggler skyship, The Owl, to take her from her palace on the Imperial world of Ilysium to the far reaches of the Remnants, so she could be with her once secret lover, the pirate king Uriah Flint.

However—Just before reaching the halfway point of Haven, The Owl was pursued and captured by the Imperial cruiser Hand of Sorrow, under charges of flying a false flag.

Even now Lady Blackbird, her bodyguard, and the crew of The Owl are detained in the brig, while the commander of the cruiser, Captain Hollas, runs the smuggler ship’s registry over the wireless. It’s only a matter of time before they discover the outstanding warrants and learn that The Owl is owned by none other than the infamous outcast Cyrus Vance.

How will Lady Blackbird and the others escape the hand of sorrow?

What dangers lie in their path?

Will they be able to find the secret lair of the pirate king? If they do, will Uriah Flint accept Lady Blackbird as his bride? By the time they get there, will she want him to?

Players: 3 to 5.

THE STORY : : Homecoming

The League of Shadows, once known as the Courts of Chaos until its fall during the Chaos Civil War over two-hundred years ago, has been peacefully maintained since then by General Dalt of Shadow Eregnor. However, according to Supreme Chancellor Martin, Shadow Republic sources indicate that Chaos rebels plan to remove the General from his position through force. It's up to you to prevent this destabilizing action from succeeding. The fate of the Shadow Republic rests in your hands.

OVERVIEW : : Inside Shadow Wars

A thousand years after the Patternfall War, King Random's dream of uniting all of Shadow through a great Republic was born and in this dream a hope for peace and prosperity. This was possible through many achievements both natural and artificial. The discovery of a Shadow-wide energy called Spark and amazing technological wonders such as Droids, Shadowships, and TrumpNet crafted secretly in the mines of Mt. Kolvir fueled the Republic's ideals and commerce making Amber even more powerful than during King Oberon's reign.

Furthermore, as the Republic spread complicated disputes required the creation of a governing body called the Senate, headed by an elected Supreme Chancellor who could request aid from designated organizations for consultation and enforcement. One such organization was the fledgling Jedi Order who shared a vision of peace and harmony throughout reality. This idealistic vision would eventually become a thorn in the sides of Shadow members distant from Amber and threaten to tear the great and mighty Republic asunder.

CONCEPT : : Who and why your character is involved

Tell me who your character is and why the Supreme Chancellor Martin of Rebma and Amber would choose them to serve in this important capacity with the other characters?

Furthermore, what is your character's connection to the League of Shadows (what is at stake for your PC personally)? Some examples may include …

1. Family: You (or your ancestors) fought for or against the Chaos Civil War over two-hundred years ago as a Chaos sympathizer or antagonist (such as a mercenary hired to weaken another Chaos Royal House).

OR

2. Duty: You (or your predacessors) were sent in to try to help limit the damage and keep peace, such as many Jedi and Republic Defense Force agents were called to do by order of the prior Supreme Chancellor, Ian (son of King Eric of Amber)?

MECHANICS : : Making a Shadow Wars Character for Wixer Con

Disclaimer: These rules are different from those used for the actual Shadow Wars campaign and are influenced by Evil Hat's game, FATE, which was the basis for Spirit of the Century and the Dresden Files RPG. More info on Shadow Wars here http://platohedron.net/shadowwars/

HEROES : : Six or more Players expected

Contact the GM if you are interested. Pregenerated or half-baked PCs may also be on hand.

Every nine years in the Imperial City of Kanraku, the Jade Emperor allows a few elite warriors to enter the House of Seven Dooms, there to compete in the Ikusa-Ko, a grand melee in which the fighters vie among themselves to determine which of them has the mightiest Kung Fu. When an uncontested victor emerges from the field of battle, he is awarded the post of Emerald Champion and the honor of standing at the Emperor's right hand for the next nine years.

But something has gone wrong. Nine years ago, although an impressive group of fighters entered the House of Seven Dooms, no new Emerald Champion emerged. The Emperor's oracles divined that all the fighters died, visited by treachery most foul. Now, as one of this year's contestants, the Emperor asks that you accept the burden of a twofold duty: not only must the a new Emerald Champion be selected, but the Emperor wishes that the dark fate of the previous contestants become known. Could the same peril still be lurking in the shadows for you?

It's a Throne War with Something More!™ Rules will vaguely similar to the Amber DRPG rules, and in-game bonuses will be awarded for admirably cheesy Kung-Fu role-playing. Shout the name of your signature move as you attack, swear vengeance upon your foes in the name of your honored master, whatever – the cheesier, the better. Characters to be generated before the Con, using a system concocted by the GM (Jim Phillips).

"My Brother's Keeper" is a League of Crowns game.

Loss and fear of a loved one runs deep, especially for immortals. The League is called in to handle a family affair and bring peace of mind to all. Prince Bleys claims to have seen the ghost of his brother, Brand, and has resigned as Captain of the skyfleet over the affair. I've got to try this one. If for the title alone. ;-) So many possibilities.

I'm in for this one.

Sins of the Father

GameMaster: Stephen Acton
Game Description: Tense / Real-time — Traditional Amber

The new balance of power has settled after the Patternfall war. Random has assumed the throne. You are the next generation of Amber. Recent conversations with your uncle Gerard have yielded strange comments about righting past wrongs. Pursuit of that line of thinking on your part has been cut short. All he will say is, "I must be certain before we talk more." Now, you have been invited to meet with Gerard…

Setting: The game will start in Amber and span shadow, possibly even reaching the Rim. The start of the game is shortly after Random has returned from Patternfall and assumed the throne.

Character Instructions: Players are Amberites and have 125 points. No Shadow Knight rules. Knowledge of Chaos possible, but no Logrus masters please. I recommend pattern, but it is not a requirement. Stuff limit of +/-5. Possible parents for PCs are: Caine, Benedict, Bleys, Brand, Dierdre, Jullian, Flora, Llewella.

I would like to get some setup done before the con, so +10 points awarded to players who have their PC to me ten days before the Con.

Objects of Obsession

Teen Friendly? No

Game Description: Sci-Fi / Futuristic — Non-Amber

Are the Objects real? Oh yes, you have seen them in action. Some think the Objects are a conduit to God. Others contend the Objects are an abomination and want to destroy them in the name of God. Still others think the Objects are God.

Who is right? Does it matter?

Some of the Objects are powerful, some are useful, some are odd, and some are just plain quirky. Together the Objects may be capable of changing the fabric of reality.

What are you willing to do to possess the Object of your obsession?

Objects is inspired by the Sci-Fi Channel miniseries The Lost Room.

Setting: Objects is set in a modern day world much like our own with a slightly darker tone.

Character Instructions:Character creation will be an interactive process between the GM and players via email before the con. I'll ask you to describe what your character does and we'll take it from there. Once the players are selected, I will send out more creation details.

Characters are aware of the Objects at the start of the game, but will not possess any.

Objects of Obsession by Sacton99Sacton99, 16 Sep 2009 01:49

This game can run in most any slot for four hours, late Friday or any time on Saturday or Sunday.
